How does Plasma work?
Plasma is a revolutionary cosmetic procedure that requires no cutting of the skin, and no injectable anaesthetics.
Plasma is generated when the oxygen and nitrogen in the air between the tip of the device and the skin is ionised. This causes a small electrical arc, which is Plasma.
When plasma contacts the skin it causes a contraction, or sublimation, this tightens and shortens the skin fibres, improving the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and scars.
Following treatment, the wound healing process is stimulated, growth factors are released which causes the fibroblasts to make new collagen and elastin.
The visible results are like those seen with surgery, without the need for a single cut or stitch and more importantly quicker recovery times.
How reliable is Plasma treatment?
Plasma works with your very own fibroblast cells, collagen proteins and elastin cells, stimulating to heal your area treated naturally.
Imagine for a moment, if your skin has a laxed elasticity (loss of elastic, loss of bounce and is a crepey texture) then this is usually due to alot of damage, Plasma skin tightening may need a few treatments to achieve your desired outcome.
If your skin has bounce, fine lines and your elasticity is well maintained then you will achieve your result faster.
If your skin has laxed due to a muscle then we would recommend joining Plasma treatment with the likes of microneedling, or injectable treatment.
Results should last 1-3 years.
How long does Plasma take?
We begin our process with a full and thorough consultation. We then apply numbing cream topically on the skin between 30-1 hour. Each treatment takes between 15 minutes to 1 hour depending on the size to be treated.
What does healing look like?
Your healing time will resolve over 4 to 10 days and will simply scab and flake off, although patients are warned not to pick these off as this may lead to scarring.
What to expect:
Day 1: Slightly warmed skin, prickly sensation, slight swelling
Day 2-3: Considerable swelling
which will resolve over the next 24-48 hours, warmed sensation that dimishes as the hours continue.
Day 4-10: Once plasma dots have dried, you can start applying moisturiser. You will experience a bumpy texture to the skin. The area may become itchy.
Do not pick or itch the scabs, the Plasma dots will start to flake off naturally.
Day 10: Majority plasma dots may have naturally fallen off. Apply SPF 50+ daily. Youthful skin activated.
Allow a full 12 weeks for your skin to heal and see final reasults. If another treatment is required we can do so at this time.
How do I book an appointment?
If you think Plasma is something you would like to try, please head to our book online tab and book a Plasma Consultation. From there we will analyse your skin and talk all about Plasma and what it can do for you!
What is my aftercare?
Generally, for all areas treated we would like you to:
- Stay out of the sun to avoid hyper-pigmentation to the area treated.
- Wash the area gently with cool to lukewarm water, do not rub the area being treated.
- Apply your prescriptive serum morning and night.
- Keep your skin dry and makeup free for 4 days.
- You can take panadol, ibuprofen, antihistamine to reduce swelling, however this is not necessary.
- Once the area has scabbed you can then apply your prescriptive serum along with moisturiser.
- Do not pick the scabs off the skin, allow them to naturaly fall off. This can take up to 10 days.
- After all the dots are removed it is important to use SPF50+ as you will have fresh pink baby cells revealed and we need to protect these.
- Your skin can take up to 12 weeks to completely heal. If a second treatment is needed we can do so at this time.
